About Us
Who We Are
Faith United Methodist Church is an inter-generational Christian community committed to Jesus Christ. We primarily serve the communities of northeast Minneapolis, St. Anthony and New Brighton, yet members come from many parts of the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. We're a church that's large enough to offer our members lots of programs and opportunities to serve, yet small enough so that we can really get to know each other. We generally have 75 to 125 people attending each of our two Sunday worship services (9 a.m. and 11 a.m., except during the summer, when we have a single service at 9:30 a.m.). We are a loving, supportive church where you are known by name and nurtured in your spiritual journey.
Our mission
Our mission is to help people develop and share their faith. We do this by affirming all persons as valued children of God, inviting people to experience a caring community, nurturing spiritual growth and renewal, responding to the human need for dignity, peace, and justice, and extending the church by sending and supporting persons to serve and minister.
We're a welcoming congregation
Faith United Methodist Church has been recognized as an official "Welcoming Congregation" by the Igniting Ministry Team, part of the national United Methodist Church.
"Welcoming congregations are a select group of United Methodist churches nationwide that meet criteria such as embracing newcomers and providing opportunities in discipleship.
Music and missions
While Faith Church has a wide variety of programs, two areas receive special emphasis: our music ministry and our missions ministry. Our Sanctuary Choir has sung on four European tours. In addition, we offer several smaller groups such as Tapestry, a contemporary choir that sings less traditional music, a bell choir, Faith Praise Singers, and children’s musical groups.
In the area of missions, many of our members have traveled to Nicaragua as part of the Inter-Faith Service to Latin America (ISLA) mission. Each summer we sent a group of our youth to Appalachia to help renovate homes of needy families as part of the Appalachia Service Project. Each month a group of volunteers serves a meal to the homeless people at the Simpson Shelter in south Minneapolis. And many other mission opportunities are available.
A military-friendly church
We welcome members of the military and their families. Our congregation includes several young people deployed in our military services, and we have three Blue Star Mothers among our members.
The importance of getting involved
We have many small groups formed around various topics, service projects, and occasions for offering support and making new friends. Within these groups you will be able to experience a renewed sense of belonging and the challenge of engaging with other seekers in the search for meaning, truth and fulfillment.
