A contemplative worship experience on Wednesday evenings

On Wednesday evenings Faith UMC offers a dinner and contemplative worship service. At 5:30 p.m. we share a meal together in Fellowship Hall (a $5 donation is requested but not required), and at 6:30 p.m. there is a half-hour contemplative worship service in the Sanctuary.

It’s at time to slow down and re-center ourselves in the midst of the week — to remember that we are the people of God, called to be a loving, healing, and justice-seeking presence in the world. We find calm in meditative music, we center ourselves in prayer and silent meditation, and we experience scripture in a new way when we read it side by side with contemporary or ancient poetry. We light candles to remember those who have gone before us, to send healing prayers for those who need healing, encouragement, or justice and to express our commitment to continue listening to God’s will in our lives
