Operating Pledge2020

Dear Friends,

Discover. Connect. Make a Difference

These are the words we have chosen to guide us at Faith United Methodist Church. We invite all persons to discover and deepen their relationship with God, connect with others in friendship and personal growth, and make a difference by reaching out to neighbors, here and around the world. These words define how we direct the resources each one of us entrusts to God through the church.

Let’s be part of continuing ministry in 2020!

  • NorthEast Senior Services, Eco-Kids Camp, Reconciling Ministries,

  • Kids Connect, adult study groups,

  • Meaningful & beautiful music from our choir, band, ensembles, and hand bells.

Newer avenues of ministry include racial reconciliation education and our Wellness Ministry Team. You and I together are always discovering, connecting, and making a difference.

Our stewardship campaign for the coming year, “Soup to Nuts,” encourages us to consider the many ways to give financially to our church. The idiom “soup to nuts” comes from the 19th century multi-course meal, beginning with soup and ending with a dessert of nuts. What it means for us is a smorgasbord of ways to give to God’s work through our congregation.

On September 15, we reflected on the many ways the love of God is expressed over our lifetime. On September 22, we’ll explore some specific methods of financial giving (e.g., electronic funds transfer/ACH, on-line bill pay, gift of stock, charitable gift fund, giving the Required Minimum Distribution from IRA, check, cash).

On Pledge Sunday, September 29, we will dedicate our estimates of giving for the coming year. As you consider your estimate, “Make love your aim.(1 Corinthians 14:1 NJB) God calls us, Faith UMC, to Discover, Connect, and Make a Difference in 2020. This is our opportunity. Thanks be to God!

Please use the enclosed Estimate of Giving card to indicate the financial gifts you anticipate giving in 2020.  Bring your completed card to worship on September 29 as we celebrate with our Estimate of Giving offering.  (Cards can also be placed in the offering plate on any other Sunday, mailed or brought to the church office, or completed on-line at www.faithumchurch.com).

I pray that together, we will engage in one or more of the “Soup to Nuts” ways of participating in vital ministry, to the glory of God!

In Christ,

Pastor Diane M. Christianson

The contemplative worship service begins at 6:30 p.m.; it is preceded by a meal at 5:30 p.m.

For Faith UMC, the long awaited time has come. Our solar panels are now installed and operational.
